5 Behavioral Characteristics of the Labradoodle

3. Aim to Please

These are dogs want to make you happy. They were originally bred as service dogs, so they can figure out what you need. Some dogs are just more sensitive than others, and the Labradoodle is a fairly sensitive dog. This means that they can pick up on human behaviors and reactions easily. They can sense when you are happy and when you are upset.

Labradoodles are good service dogs because they know what you want. They can make excellent guide dogs for blind people and comfort dogs for people who need a little extra support. They’re especially good workers in families that can’t have dogs due to allergies.

Keep in mind that their sensitivities can upset them. If you get angry easily or show anger, your dog will feel bad. When you’re training your dog, getting impatient or mad can scare or upset them. Stay positive and let them know that they’re doing a good job. Praise is a strong form of positive reinforcement.

4. Energetic

This breed has a ton of energy. They are a ton of fun and great for active owners. Pups in this breed can vary from calm to practically hyperactive. Regardless, all Labradoodles will need plenty of exercise. If you are unable to go on long walks or spend a few hours a day giving your dogs exercise, this might not be the dog for you.

This dog is the perfect companion for exercise. This dog can walk for long periods of time. If the weather’s not too hot, your Labradoodle may even join you on a short run. Labradoodles also love the water, so a nice swim in a lake would be a fun activity for them.

You can even combine their love of exercise with their intelligence. Fetch is a fun game that uses different obedience commands to get some exercise. You can also teach your dog to catch a Frisbee. If your dog is really intelligent, you can try agility training your dog. It’s fun to see how fast your dog can navigate different obstacles.

5. Gentle

Even though this dog is bursting with energy, they still have a gentle side. They can understand the difference between when to be serious and when to be goofy. This is what makes the breed good for comfort dogs. They can be calm and nurturing to others that need comfort. For this reason, they can be trusted around children. Some Labradoodle owners even say that their dog is protective of their children. These dogs feel like they have a responsibility to take care of children. They make good watch dogs, but don’t expect a Labradoodle to be a guard dog.

There are so many great traits when it comes to Labradoodles. They are a ton of fun to play with and make good exercise partners. They are smart, but they do require training to make them productive, rather than destructive. They make a great family dog because they like to be around children and other dogs. They are capable of being extremely loving and kind, making them a perfect best friend.
