4 Benefits of the Labradoodle’s Coat

3. They are easy to groom.

Because this breed is a Poodle cross, one may think that it requires a lot of grooming. Poodles are high maintenance, but Labradoodles are fairly low maintenance. When it comes to bathing, this dog only needs a bath when they’re especially dirty. Their skin produces enough oil to keep them looking good, but not dirty.

When it comes to grooming, they may need a rare visit to the groomer to keep them looking good. The fleece type needs the occasional grooming to keep them trimmed. Their coat is a bit longer, so it just needs a cut when it gets long and scraggly. The wool coat needs a little more grooming, because the curls can get matted if they aren’t taken care of.

Otherwise, this breed just needs a good, regular brushing. This is an easy way to keep your dog’s coat looking pretty and redistribute oils in the fur. It can prevent matting that will require more grooming. Brushing is also a good way to prevent shedding in your house.

4. They come in a lot of varieties.

There are so many different colors and coat types out there. Your Labradoodles can have long, wavy, silky fur or it can be wiry, thick, and curly. They also come in tons of different colors. You’re most likely to see a white, golden, brown, or black Doodle, but there are also blue, red, silver, brindle, black and tan, and grey Labradoodles. Some are more rare than others, so certain colors can be hard to get. Depending on how your Labradoodle was bred, there are tons of different options of how their coat can turn out.

The Labradoodle’s coat isn’t just cute and fluffy, but an important part of their identity as a breed. They have been bred carefully over the past few decades just to create the perfect coat. They are great indoor dogs because they don’t shed a lot and they won’t cause allergies in your family or houseguests. They are low maintenance when it comes to grooming. They come in so many unique colors and coat types, so you can be sure your Labradoodle is one of a kind.
